Ashley's Birth Story
Our new baby boy Hunter Charlie DeSanno fed 8 times in the past 24 hours! He was 6 lbs 10 oz and 20 inches long. Here is a quick version of my labor :
Tuesday morning I woke up at 4:30 AM with a bit of a trickle but had been having quite a bit of discharge so thought nothing of it. I went the gym and ran on the treadmill not sure if this was labor or not. I got cleaned up and was feeling crampy but not in a lot of pain. I went to work and thought I should start timing, I then realized while timing contractions at work they were 3.5 minutes apart for 2 hours so we went to our doctor who checked me and told me to go to the hospital immediately!
We got to labor and delivery at 1:00 PM. I actively labored using the birthing ball and a lot of breathing techniques from class. I ended up getting an epidural at 8 CM, right around 5:15 PM (I had not planned on it but am reconciling with it now) I began pushing at 6:36pm and he was out at 7:04 pm. I did not tear at all and am feeling wonderful.
It was the most amazing experience of my life. I believe staying in shape and yoga lent to the quick labor and delivery. He is unbelievably sweet, doesn't cry much (yet) but poops up a storm already.
I am feeling emotional, exhausted, thrilled, all of those new mommy things. We are excited to go home today!

Ashley and Ben a couple of months later......
