Carrie's story
After some hesitation on my part, Daddy finally convinced me to go out walking on friday night, and yes this got everything going (Thanks Daddy!)! I started having contraction around 6:30pm on Friday evening and by 2:00am they were about 5 minutes apart & we decided to head to the hospital.
After spending about an hour at the hospital they sent us home as I was only 3 centimeters dialted & who wants to spend more time in the hospital than they have to!
We arrived back home & I moved around a bit, took a bath a tried as best as I could to handle the pain (by the way, Daddy was an excellent coach thru all of this).
Finally around 8:30 am the contractions were much stronger& getting closer together, so we made our way back to the hospital. This time we were checked in & I decided to get something for the pain. I was given some medicine that took the edge away from the pain of the contractions for about 45 minutes!
Just as the medicine wore off, it was time to push.
My water still had not broken at this point, but with the first push that was remidied!
Now it was time to get that baby out!
With only coaching from Daddy & the nurse & no epidural, Rachel was born with only 21 minutes of pushing time (I was told by the nurse that this gets me bragging rights!)!
My Doctor estimated that I would not be at 10 centimeters until around 3 or 4 in the afternoon. To his surprise he was paged to come back not more than 10 minutes after he had been in to check me (guess he was a bit surprised)!
Rachael was born at 12:21 pm on September 13th!
We have been blessed with a very sweet natured baby….. so far.
Everything has gone extremely well for both of us. Rachael has taken to nursing very well, and my recovery has gone very smoothly!
Can’t wait to bring her home with us!
