Danielle's story
I had acupuncture on Monday and Tuesday (with Catherine Howe, a nurse midwife, at Sea Star Community Acupuncture, 503-253-0669, www.seastaracupuncture.com and started having serious contractions around 2:30am Wednesday. By noon that day my little boy Simon had arrived, one day short of his due date. He was 7 lbs. 9 oz. and 20 in. long. The birth was a great experience (a non-medicated VBAC!), and I can't say enough about the midwives and nurses at OHSU. I labored in the waterbirth tub, which felt wonderful and really sped me through transition. I'm still so suprised and grateful that it all went so well and that I'm already home with a new baby.
