Ilme's Hypnobabies Birth Story

We are living in absolute bliss.  Eia was born Sunday night at 11:42.  As you know, we went in to the hospital Saturday midnight to begin the induction process.  I was still rather emotionally resistant to being induced but we started wth the prostaglandins and the assurance that we were free to leave the hospital if my body was not showing favorable signs of progressing with as little intervention as possible.

Sometime during the night I felt ready and invested.  Sunday, in the morning, when they came in to check, my body had indeed responded favorably so we decided to go for the pitocin drip.  By 1 pm I was in active labor (birthing time).

She was born 11:42 pm with only 15 minutes of "pushing".  She was 10 lbs. 5 oz.  I am now recovering from a 3rd degree tear--the only downside of the whole experience. I feel very lucky to have had the Hypnobabies class with you--it really made a huge difference in how we were able to greet the whole process of birthing with joy and peace.

It's funny, I was looking through the photos of the actual birth and there is a photo of me pushing and the baby crowning and there is the biggest smile on my face!

Eia latched on right out of the womb and the two of us have had a beautiful and easy time learning to breastfeed. She is very healthy and fun to be with!  We can't wait to have you meet her.
Thank you for everything, Ilme and Peter
