Jenny's Birth StoryDamon arrived at 6:57am on Sunday morning. My water broke at 4:15am, and so we went straight to the hospital, where they had a team waiting to deliver him. I was having a few early contractions but nothing major. They gave me a spinal and then got him out pretty quickly. In the end, it was a beautiful birth, and I'm so happy that he started things off when he was ready.
He weighed 8 lbs exactly and was 20 cm long.
We are breastfeeding beautifully (he had a few weight issues to start but I'm pumping and then feeding the extra to him via a tube at the same time as I'm breastfeeding so as not to confuse him with bottles).
I'm so happy I came to yoga, and really appreciate all the advice you gave me along the way.

a few days later....
I spoke too soon on the breastfeeding front... although he seemed to be getting enough milk (and I was definitely producing enough), he had a tongue-tie, and so he was ripping my nipples to shreds. (The tongue tie is when a baby's frenulum, that part under the tongue that connects the tongue to the rest of the mouth, is too short, so baby can't breastfeed well. ~ Vittoria) So now, we've had his tongue tie cut but I now have a yeast infection on my breasts because of the damage he did, so I've been pumping and bottle feeding him the breast milk for nearly 2 weeks now, and he's doing great with it - he's now up to 9 lbs 4 oz (he was 8 lbs at birth). He's such a hungry boy that I'm struggling to keep my milk supply matching his demand, but we've only had to use formula for 1 feed which isn't too bad, and my milk seems to be catching up again.
I'm so glad I did the yoga while I was pregnant - I feel like it kept me in good working order right up until delivery (can't believe I did it the day before I went into labour!!!)... so I just wanted to tell you how much I appreciate the classes you run. You're so valuable to all of us!!
Here are some pictures of Damon (only fairly old ones at the moment but we'll download some new ones soon and send them). He looks nothing like me - he is just like my husband... but he has the same sneeze as me and the same birth mark so I know he's mine!!!!
