Couples LABOR & BIRTH PREPARATION class ~~ Sun, March 14, 2-4 pm

"The couples class really made me and my partner feel like we have more information to prepare for birth (that wasn't scary). I feel more empowered and optimistic about our birth. Plus, it was really fun and we enjoyed the time together to bond!" - Jessica

"Thanks so much for the class, my husband and I both really enjoyed ourselves, it helped us focus our attention on our baby and each other- which we do not get to do very often with a 2 year old around the house :) We came away from the class with some concrete things we can do to connect with one another and ready ourselves for the birth. I have already received 2 massages based on the techniques you showed us :)"  - Sonya

This is a great and fun class for couples in their 3rd trimester of pregnancy. We'll be practicing yoga, birth ball positions and massage techniques partner can use on mom now and in her labor. Read below for more details!

Price: $42 per couple
Class description:

In this class we're going to practice movement and techniques to increase your comfort and confidence throughout your pregnancy and birthing....

Couples will learn and practice:
• partner yoga poses and relaxation that you can do from now on till the birth, and while giving birth. Fun to do!
supportive positions/movements to do while you are in active labor to facilitate birthing your baby (working w/a birthing ball, supported squats etc.)
mom massage: simple massage techniques your partner can practice on you now to the end of pregnancy, designed to help you relax and relieve achy joints and muscles
visualization and breathing
handouts with acupressure points to help you relax during your birthing time and to assist the baby’s descent.
• short discussion/questions time (for example, what happens physically & emotionally during pregnancy, birthing and any other topic of interest).

It will be a time for you to connect and share some time with your partner, as well as other couples, where you can move away from 'doing', and move into 'being', have fun and let go!

No previous yoga experience necessary. Best time to attend is after the first trimester.
We’ll provide mats, pillows, other props etc. Please wear comfortable clothing. Classes will be here at Om Base.

Hypnobabies reunion!

Hypnobabies%20reunionWe had our Hypnobabies reunion yesterday at Peanut Butter and Ellie's restaurant and everyone got a chance to see each other's babies and say hi. It was wonderful to see all the parents be so comfortable with one another and have embraced mother and fatherhood with such ease!  I'm planning on having reunions every few months, and having a one large annual reunion with everyone from all the previous classes! so we can stay in touch and see the kids grow up!

Wise Mother's words...from Sarah

"The days are long, but the years are short"
Such a great way to see mother and fatherhood, no? The days are indeed long, but the years go by so quickly.  Enjoy them!

Awakening the Universal Motherhood

A quote from Amma....a spiritual leader from India, who travels around the world spreading joy and love. I met Amma in 1992 and see her every year when she comes to tour the US. She is my inspiration in life.

Amma"The essence of motherhood is not restricted to women who have given birth; it is inherent in both men and women. It is an attitute of the mind. It is love, and love is the very breath of life".  ~ Amma ~

From Tara....

David%20Tara%20%20Andrew.jpg"I can't thank you enough for all your kindness and support.  You have been such a help through this entire process preparing for birth and now getting used to being a Mom.  It helped so much talking to you today and hearing your stories and the stories of other women.  It helped reassure me that I am not alone and I am not going crazy or a bad mother.

Thank you for everything. You are truly very special to me".   Tara

New website in progress!

52225597512_0_BG.jpgDear students,

I am working on this new website and I'm very excited it is so dynamic and interactive. Please feel free to email me with suggestions as to how I can make it more user friendly for you (birth stories, link pages, blogs, chat rooms, etc).

I want to take time now to thank all of you moms that over the years sent the pictures of your beautiful babies! This site would not look the same without them!

Blessings, Vittoria

Sarah gave birth 7/15....She's back to postnatal yoga already!

1454736-936320-thumbnail.jpg"Hi Vittoria,
Our son Jasper was born at home yesterday afternoon in a beautiful waterbirth.  He weighed 9 lbs 14 oz and is really healthy.  I feel great but am pretty tired.  The birth went well, about 2 hours of hard labor after about 6 hours of light contractions every 7-10 minutes.  Labor really kicked in as soon as my friends came over to pick up my daughters!  I will send photos soon – send my best to all of my Sunday yoga mates".

3 days later..."Here are a few pictures to share.  Jasper was a big boy! I was very surprised that he hadn’t lost any weight on my 3 day check up with the midwives.  Now my milk is in and he’s continuing to grow.  He is such a joy and the bliss of these first days is magical.
Love,
Sarah"
