Melissa's Birth StoryAva Grace Kennelly 12:37pm 7lbs 5oz 19" graced us with her presence on 7/23/07.
Here is our story: Born at The Birthplace, Willamette Falls Hospital. The birth went extremely well, I couldn't have asked for a more supportive birth partner, awesome midwife and nurse. Mild contractions started around noon on Sunday and lulled out for a while in the evening. I went to sleep for about an hour only to wake up to more stronger contractions. I spent the next 3 hours timing them, doing some yoga and Hypnobabies. I woke up Nick for game time and we arrived at the Birth Center around 3am. I was dilated 6cm. Progress was made but stopped for a while, I think to let my body rest and recoup (exhausting). I started to push around 9am and she arrived at 12:37pm. Hypnobabies prepared me so much for a wonderful drug free birthing experience. I do wish I had prepared as much for breastfeeding, Ava and I are struggling but will succeed!
