Shawn's story
I had a baby girl on Tuesday the 19th. She came a bit early, but we are home and she is fine. 6 lbs 10 oz, 19 inches long and a really easy birth. 7 hours total from water breaking at home to her arrival. Thanks for all the help with breathing and yoga. I think it would have been much harder without the strength I get from yoga. See you soon in post partum.
I asked Shawn to elaborate, and here is what she added:
My water broke at home at about 11 pm. Up until that point I really didn't feel anything different. No contractions and I never felt a dropping of the baby. We went to the hospital at midnight and I had pretty mild contractions for about 4 hours. I was dialating from 3 to 5 cms during this time. Then I started into transiton labor and had really strong contractions for about an hour and a half. I pushed for about 25 minutes and she was born at 7am. I was about to do it naturally, but did have a hard time staying focused on the breathing at the end. All in all it was amazingly simple and I feel very fortunate and lucky to have had it go that way. I am doing great now and can't wait to get back to yoga and swimming.
Oh, I had her on the 19th, but wasn't due until Sept 3rd.
