On Monday, May 28, I started having contractions about 3:45 PM. I timed them for a few hours and they were staying about 7 minutes apart and were not getting stronger. I continued having contractions through the night and into the morning. These contractions were mild enough I could function and even got a decent night's sleep.
Tuesday morning, the contractions started getting intense about 9:00. At 9:30 we started timing them and they were about 5 minutes apart lasting about 1 minute each. We decided to call the doula and get ready to head to the hospital. We got to the hospital just before 11:30 AM. I was 8 cm dilated. Things continued to move quickly. At 12:52 PM, Eli was delivered in three contractions. The first push broke my water and his head crowned. The second push brought his head further out. (He was posterior.) His entire head came on the third push and an easy fourth push delivered the rest of his body.
I am looking forward to starting the postnatal class. I am sure the prenatal yoga class helped me through the labor. Not only was body prepared, but I knew how to breathe, relax, and visualize. Thanks!
