Birth Wisdom

 

Cameron Taylor von Ahlefeld was born 7/22/07 at 11:01 am, 8 lbs, 1 oz., 19 3/4 inches. I had a long labor which started Thursday the 19th a day after my due date.  I went into labor and delivery Friday night but was only 3 centimeters and 80% effaced.  They stripped my membranes and told me to walk around for a couple of hours.  During that time I did not dilate any more so they sent me home.  

 

By Saturday evening at 8:30 pm I decided that it was time for us to go back to L&D.  When I arrived at 9:00pm I was 3-4 centimeters and 95% effaced.  The admitted me and sent me to the jacuzzi tub which really helped me relax. My contractions were now 3-5 minutes apart. I returned from the tub and was given an epidural at 1:30 am.  I slept for about an hour.  The first real sleep since the contractions had started on Thursday.  I was checked again at 6am, they broke my water, and I progressed quickly.  By 9 am I was finally dialated to 10, I started pushing and Cameron was born at 11:01 am.  We are doing well.
